Thousands of people seeking asylum have chosen NSW as their home and place of safety after fleeing persecution. More than 200 people seeking asylum are still being held offshore in Papua New Guinea and Nauru and another 1,400 people are in onshore detention. Many of these people have been denied access to even the most basic services and supports. Between now and September, join us and others in the Catholic community as we work to shape a more just and compassionate response for people seeking asylum!
The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is a member-based lay Catholic organisation that has been assisting people experiencing poverty and disadvantage across NSW for 135 years.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land, with deep respect. May Elders, past and present, be blessed and honoured. May we join together and build a future based on compassion, justice, hope, faith and reconciliation.
